This is the session our name comes from. Every iron in your set leaves the bench within the same rotational-resistance band, not just the same swing-weight letter.
Swing Weight Gets You Close. This Gets You There.
Swing weight measures balance around a fixed point roughly six inches down the grip. It's a useful shorthand, but it doesn't fully account for how shaft length changes across a set — which means a swing-weight-matched set can still feel progressively lighter in the long irons and heavier in the short irons.
Rotational resistance measures something closer to what your hands and body actually feel: how hard the club fights back when you swing it around your own rotational axis. We check every finished iron against a target band, adjusting head weight in small increments where needed to hold the whole set inside it.
Rotational Resistance Is the Anchor, Not the Whole Story
Dynamic Lie Angle
Measured under real swing load rather than static address position, since lie angle at impact can differ meaningfully from lie angle at setup.
Shaft Flex & Weight
Tested across weight classes independent of head selection, so shaft and head decisions don't get locked together by default.
Length Progression
Standard half-inch steps aren't automatic here — we check whether your carry gaps hold up at standard length or need adjustment.
Grip Size
An undersized grip changes hand action through impact in ways that show up as face angle drift, independent of anything else in the build.
Set Gapping
Every carry number gets logged and compared against neighboring clubs so there's no overlap or dead zone anywhere in the set.
Bounce & Sole Grind
Checked at the scoring end of the set, where sole design starts to matter as much as loft for how the club interacts with turf.
Signs Your Set Isn't Matched
Long Irons Feel "Whippy"
If your longer irons feel harder to control than the rest of the set despite matching swing weights, a rotational-resistance gap is a common cause.
Short Irons Feel Unexpectedly Heavy
The mirror image of the issue above — short irons that feel top-heavy at the transition often carry more rotational resistance than the rest of the set, even at a matching swing weight.
Mixed-Component Sets
Building a set from mixed manufacturers or extending an existing set with different heads is one of the most common ways a rotational-resistance mismatch creeps in unnoticed.
Inconsistent Strike Location Club to Club
If your strike pattern moves around the face differently from club to club, uneven rotational resistance across the set is worth ruling out before changing your setup or swing.
