Wedge Fitting

Wedges get replaced by feel more than any other club in the bag, which means they're also the category most likely to be wrong without anyone noticing until the numbers are put in front of them.

What We Capture

Bounce Is a Turf Decision, Not a Preference

Bounce angle determines how the sole interacts with the ground, and the right number depends on your attack angle and the turf conditions you actually play, not what came stock on last year's model. We test on both firm and soft mats to see how each grind behaves across both conditions.

We also log full-swing and partial-swing spin numbers separately, since a wedge that spins well on a full shot doesn't always hold the same way on a 40-yard pitch — the shot most golfers actually hit most often around the green.

What We Adjust During a Wedge Session

Bounce Angle

Higher bounce suits a steeper attack angle and softer turf; lower bounce suits a shallower attack angle and firmer conditions.

Sole Grind

Grind shape changes effective bounce at an open face — important for anyone who opens the clubface for flop shots or greenside variety.

Loft Gapping

Most sets run four- or five-degree gaps between wedges, but your actual carry distances determine whether that spacing holds up for your swing.

Grooves & Face Texture

Groove condition affects spin more on partial shots from short grass than on full swings, which is easy to underestimate until it's measured directly.

Shaft & Swing Weight

Wedge shafts typically run heavier than iron shafts for extra feel and control on short shots, checked here against your rotational-resistance target from the iron fitting.

Length

Standard length isn't automatic — shorter wedges can improve control on shots inside 60 yards for players who prioritize precision over distance.

Check Your Wedge Loft Gaps

Bring your full wedge set and we'll test bounce, grind, and gapping against real turf conditions, not a chart.
